Recipe: Asian Salad

Spruce up your dim sum spread with our take on an Asian Salad.

This salad is our go to recipe when we’ve got friends coming over. You can make it in whatever quantity you like, add in whatever you like and serve it with whatever you like. It goes well with any of our set boxes and is a great addition to the carrot slaw.

It’s packed full of crunchy, fresh vegetables and is as colourful as the rainbow! You can top it with chopped nuts, sesame seeds and even add some glass noodles to it, making it good enough to have as a main meal!

For the dressing, we usually use Sesame Tang to drizzle over, but you may want to leave this off and let your guests choose their own from our delectable range of dipping sauces

As far as recipes go, this is the simplest to describe and easiest to follow, so we’ll try and make it as exciting as we can.

Asian Salad

Serves 4

Ingredients

Half of a small Red Cabbage

Half of a head of Chinese Leaf

1 Red Pepper

3-4 Spring Onions

1-2 Medium Carrots Grated

Handful of nuts chopped (cashew and/or peanuts)

Sesame seeds (optional)

Dressing  - Sesame Tang, Slaw Tang or Chilli Ginger Kicker

Method

  1. Using your sharpest knife, finely slice and chop the Red Cabbage, Chinese Leaf and slice the Red Pepper. Arrange in colour order…
  2. Finely chop the Spring Onions and grate the Carrots, but make sure they don’t touch just yet.
  3. Using salad spoons or your own two hands, toss all the ingredients together in a large bowl so all the colourful veg is mixed together.
  4. Holding your spoon in your hand, approximately 15 cm above the salad bowl, move your hand in a clockwise direction and drizzle over 2-3 tablespoons of your chosen dressing.
  5. Toss your salad again, but this time maybe use some spoons, it can get a bit slippery at this stage!
  6. Decorate your masterpiece with a sprinkle of nuts and then wash your hands.
  7. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve it alongside your favourite dim sum.

All that’s left to do now is shop for your dips and your dim sum.

Enjoy and Much Love. X
